Oh where do I start? My “about me” should probably change on a daily basis. Anyways, here goes…

Hi! I’m Amy. The fun and pleasantly strange girl who runs this blog. I am a follower of Christ and I am also a 30-something years young mother of 3 rough little boys and married to my best friend, Ryan, the most wonderful man in the world! We are expecting baby number four in April of 2010. We are now debt free (minus the house) due to the help of Dave Ramsey’s wise counsel and the blessings of God.

I came from a multi-dysfunctional home and married early to create another one. Needless to say that first marriage didn’t last but it gave us three precious gifts and I am forever grateful for them. Through my experiences, God has given me a desire to minister to women. In addition to speaking at at women’s groups and conferences, I operate an online conference ministry called A Woman Inspired where women from all walks of life provide lots of great practical, inspirational, and motivating online sessions, tips and tutorials for the Christian woman seeking to be closer to the heart of the Father.

I am also working on my first book tentatively entitled, Women’s Ministry Online. I have been knee deep in online women’s ministry for over 3 years now and done some extensive research about how to effectively promote online ministries and I hope to be able to share my findings with you through this book.

I homeschool one of my children and co-school the other two. I also enjoy writing as a ministry to other women. I am co-owner and a devotional writer for CWO’s Internet Cafe and I am the co-founder and a contributor to Heart of the Matter Online – the premier homeschooling and parenting site. In addition to that I am an advocate against sex trafficking and volunteer time and services to Cyrus International. Scrapbooking, reading, cooking, traveling and shopping for great deals also rank high on my list of “likes”.

I am also a contributing writer to Exemplify Online and host a weekly radio show and monthly webinar through Christian Women Affiliate.

…and for the PR people here is my “official” resume:

Amy is a true Cajun princess who is on a mission to minister to women via the World Wide Web. Her preferred method of ministering is through writing but she can often be found with a microphone strapped to her head and caught in her hair while speaking to lost and hurting women. She has a heart for encouraging and equipping them and she is a firm believer that a woman’s first ministry should be to her family.

After many years of leading women’s groups, God appointed her as a missionary to the world via the internet. It was then that she co-founded some inspiring and practical sites for Christian women.

Her passionate pursuits saturate such endeavors as A Woman Inspired online conferences and small groups for women; Heart of the Matter Online, a leading parenting and home education website and online magazine; and Internet Café Devotions which ministers to thousands of women on a daily basis. She is also the co-founder of the Christian Women Toolbar. Over at Split Decisionz she designs blogs and offers consultations for those looking to improve their online ministries.

Amy is a regular columnist for some of the Christian circuit’s most popular websites and her ramblings have been published in several publications. She was cover girl for CWO Magazine in August of 2008, her works were featured on Inside Out (a Christian television program), and she had a small feature in an article released in the February 2010 edition of Woman’s Day magazine.

As a professionally trained speaker, Amy has spoken at retreats, women’s events, conferences, and small home groups. She is a graduate of the She Speaks Writer’s Track 2009. She received a degree is in Business Administration/Accounting and she has continued her education by completing additional courses or workshops provided by previous employers, the local community college, and church. They include the following: print design, marketing, advertising, InDesign, Adobe CS3, web marketing, internet trends, public speaking, selfless service, divorce recovery, biblical parenting, blended families, and several marriage workshops.

You can find her blogging about her online adventures, and beyond, at her personal stomping ground, AmyBayliss.com.

Amy, her husband Ryan, and their four boys live in the heart of Louisiana where they worship and serve under Healing Place Church, the birthplace of Servolution.

Meet the gang…
Ryan

Ryan is a computer guy, or uh… IT guy? Or um, all around electronics and software fixer guy. Yeah, that’s it! He works
for the IT dept at a local equipment company and he owns his own computer repair business. I am one blessed woman. This man is amazing. He is a man of God, has a servant’s heart and he loves me and my boys more than I ever dreamed possible. He is definitely a God send!

Amy
How I Live…
I have the peace of God. I have my man. I have my kids. I have my family and friends. I have it all. I have also realized that God is God and we are not. Sometimes we just have to trust Him to handle things in our lives. He is faithful. I want to be full of the joy I get when I know I’ve done the right thing. I want to help others and see smiles on their faces. I want to make a difference in the world and I know that with God I can. I love and accept people as they are. It is our uniqueness that makes us so special in God’s eyes. After all, He made us that way. I want to make sure I use all the potential He has given me to pursue the desires He placed within me. I never want to have a single day of regret. Our time here is too short….. I’m going for it!!
Gevan
Gevan (12) is my oldest. He is just like me and it makes me crazy! :o ) He is determined to be a stuntman, doctor, soldier, teacher, spy, actor, singer, and the list goes on and on and on. He must know something about everything. He is determined, smart, and bullheaded. On second thought no, he doesn’t sound just like me! OK maybe the smart part. Gevan has a form of dwarfism called Cartilage-Hair Hypoplasia. He is also blind in one eye (20/800 vision). He is a Kinesthetic Learner and a challenge to teach. He wants to learn on his own.

Jacob
Jacob (10) wants to be an artist. My melancholy child is a natural with paint mediums and chalks. He can also play just about any instrument he gets his hands on. He just cries tears of joy, sadness, confusion, or whatever he feels at that moment while doing it. He is a focused child. He loves school. Teaching him is a complete and utter joy. I love seeing his face when he gets it. He is my biggest reader and he is a visual learner who remembers almost everything he reads. I work closely with Jacob’s teachers to make sure he has the best education possible.

Brennan

Brennan (8) doesn’t care what he is when he grows up. He just wants it to be fun or else he says that he is just going to live with us until he gets a kid then he said he’ll move in with them! How is that for figuring things out? Can you say 100% sanguine personality? He loves to climb and his most favorite food in the entire world is bananas. So of course, his nickname is…. Monkey! He loves critters of any kind and brings me wild flowers often (including poison ivy). Although it takes armed guards to keep him sitting down, Brennan learns with little effort. He is like a sponge absorbing everything. His learning style is auditory.

Sarge
Sarge is a complicated creature. Complicated because he doesn’t seem to want to do anything he is supposed to do. You know, like use the bathroom outside (he is an outside dog) and not eat other people’s food off of the table (how does he get in?) Sarge is only a few months old but he is already a big dog and he has already won our hearts. Now if we could only get him to stop chewing the furniture (why is he in the house?)

I love your ability to describe your children so wonderfully! I’ve been homeschooling my child for five years and still could not tell you her type of learning “style” – other than eclectic and in her own time :-D

I have two boys also, but they are grown now. I learned to make plenty time for my girlfriends to combat the testosterone in my house!

You Go, Girl! Keep pursuing your dream to provide a home for your family… and write with a passion! We need more women who embrace that lifestyle of being home to teach us all about finding God’s grace and peace there.
Blessings!

Hi Amy, I thought I’d pop in and peruse your new page some more, and came across this post. I see that you’re into ‘personality profiling’ too! I am a melancholy mum, mixed with a bit of everything else but in smaller doses, and my daughter is predominantly sanguine, so you can imagine what life is like, hehe! Your family is adorable, and I take my hat off to your for all you do with the web pages you manage, being a wife and mother, and also being a home schooling teacher! An amazing story of God’s love for you and your love for Him. Blessings In Him, Paula :-)

You seem like a neat lady, a cool mom, and good friend. Oh, and I also like that you’re selling Holy Cow! for 60% more than your other books. :)
Wish we were neighbors,
Hope
