UPDATE: This post was done years ago before Ryan and I were married. I’ve since moved all of this into our new home.
I have given a lot of thought lately to the fact that in a couple short months, I will no longer live in my current home. I have also realized that there are a few things that I have grown quite fond of here. In an effort to always remember our time in this house I have decided to blog about the spaces that I like the most. I am starting with my bedroom because it is where I spend the most time.
My bedroom is a good size so I have managed to separate my bedroom into three distinct areas: a Scrap / Ebay storage space, an Office Space, and of course, my bedroom space. This is a view of how I have all three spaces working together.
This is another angle from my master bathroom.
And yet another angle showing the master bath off of the bedroom. This should give you an idea of the space in the room that I am working with.
This is a photo of just the scrap space portion of my room. I’ve managed to section it off using bookcases. Had I been here any longer I wanted to actually design and decorate it more to make it more cohesive but I’m glad that I will be moving on to my new home soon. I’ll work on that then.
Now let’s move into the actual scrap space so that you can see how I organize my goodies.
This is the bottom shelf of my scrapbook storage. Here I keep all of my stamps and stamping supplies, adhesives, metal accents, buttons, and some of my incomplete scrapbooks. Everything is meticulously labeled so I know where to find what I am looking for. I don’t have time to rummage through boxes and then put it all back after I find what I was looking for. Labeling is key!
A closer look:
I organize by theme and not by product. What I mean by that is I put all of my “flower” themed stuff together or all of my “boyish” stuff together instead of putting all stickers together and all die-cuts together. When I am doing a school page then I just take down the container marked “school” and go for it! Things I do group together like “metals” and “buttons” are all items that can go with any theme. Here is where I keep my scraps, chunky page embellishments, eyelets and snaps, scrap kits, and lots and lots of other scrapbook tools. I also keep my books/magazines here.
NOTE: I always anchor my bookcases to the wall to insure that they do not tip over on me or any of my boys. This is especially necessary if it is a heavy piece of furniture or if it is top heavy.
On both sides of that bookcase I have wire shelving. These are basic four shelf wire units that can be found at any home improvement store. I have my paints on the right. I use these for many different things. I love paint!
This one contains all of my ribbons and threads.
This is where I store all my goodies. I prefer to store according to them when applicable. Inside these containers are my stickers, die cuts, punches, ephemera, souvenirs, and anyting else to do with a particular subject.
Each family member also has their own memory box containing things that I want to keep to scrapbook.
My punches and embossing powder.
The most amazing piece of furniture I have ever owned … it was a gift from my husband. It is a hobby armoire. The desk folds out when in use and fold back and is hidden when not in use. There is an outlet at the back of it and sufficient nooks at the top that are just right for 12X12 scrapbook paper. There are two shelves on the bottom as well…. I love this armoire.
A peak at the storage underneath.
How do you organize your craft space?

Awesome organization! I also loved your comments on hospitality. It is definitely a ministry, and looking at housekeeping with that perspective might give me more motivation! Thanks for sharing!
This post was good timing for me. I’m going just beginning to organize my scrapbooking supplies. Thank you!
Becky
That’s a great way to do the scrapbook stuff, by theme. I will have to do that!
That is very motivating!
I love Ebaying but haven’t done as much, but with yard sales coming back up I will!
Have a great weekend!
Amy – you’re amazing! I can hardly keep my bedroom in it’s own space, much less the rest of that stuff. It looks great!
Sounds like a great use of space. Very cool!
Wow! And thanks for the visuals… helps me a lot.
