I must admit that I was a bit shocked to hear that if we had lived in Arkansas, I would not have been able to homeschool Gevan. As their law stood from 1985 to 1999, any child with “special needs” would have been mandated to attend a form of public school. Mike Huckabee changed that law, which coincidentally was signed into effect by then Governor Bill Clinton, and Mike has a firm record of standing up for the rights of those who choose to homeschool whether they do it for personal or religious reasons, convenience or any other reason. This is just one of the many reasons why I support him.

Thanks for sharing this!!!
Good to know. I wish that more *real* issues had been covered on last night’s disappointment of a GOP debate on CNN.
First time at your blog…I listened to this whole thing and plan to put it on my blog at some point….thanks for sharing..excellant.

My wife and I have homeschooled our children for 11 years. I would rather move to Iraq than have this person as president. All we need is another intolerant Christian in office. Ron Paul all the way. Huckabee is just a warmonger in Christian clothing.
We too are long time homeschoolers (and a homeschool almnus)and always appreciate people’s committment to teach their children. However, while Governor Huckabee has good points, including his support of homeschooling, I believe there are also a number of troubling aspects to his record and positions.
Well, thank you Hody and Mr. Sammson for sharing your opinion on Mr. Huckabee.
While I appreciate your concerns regarding my support of said candidate, I assure you that I have considered his position on all of the issues and weighed them against the other candidates and he is still my candidate of choice.
Also, contrary to popular belief, my support for Mr. Huckabee was not gained by his stance on homeschooling. In fact, it didn’t have anything to do with it. It was more of a pleasant surprise to find that he is a supporter of homeschoolers. I simply enjoyed the video and thought others might enjoy it as well.
Mr. Sammson: The article you pointed to made me giggle. I am still amazed at how the world believes that the only way to gain support and favor is by bringing out some of the negative aspects of others. For every reason you give me not to support Mr. Huckabee I can give you an equally good reason not to support your favorite candidate. If you want to win my support then keep in mind that I don’t want to know why I shouldn’t support Huckabee. Why? Because it gives me no reason to support the candidate you support. I like to focus on positives.
Happy New Year to you both!
