Sweet Love, Falling Meteors, & A Giveaway

So… this past weekend, Ryan and I were finally able to go out and celebrate our one year anniversary. We had to put off celebrating because when the actual date rolled around – September 8 – no one around us had electricity due to Hurricane Gustav. Besides that, we had spent all of our money on a generator and gas to run it.

I’m happy to say that it was well worth the wait. : )

We arranged for my sister and brother-in-law to keep the boys overnight which was a super blessing and it gave us a much needed night to ourselves! Ryan took me to Ruffino’s which is a very classy Italian restaurant here in the city. Can you say “delish?” Oh my, it was so good. We had seared scallops with balsamic vinegar glaze to kick it off and then I chose the Chicken Parmesan and Ryan chose the Prime Rib (guys always go for the big piece of meat don’t they?) It was so good and the service was fabulous. The waitress even brought us a complimentary piece of chocolate cake to share.

After dinner we came home to watch “our” movie: Armageddon. This was the first movie Ryan and I watched together and there is a great story behind why we chose that movie and I may eventually share it if you want to hear it but it has definitely become an annual event for us to watch it and it never grows old.
We retired for the night, well not really ;) and Ryan even let me sleep late. It was the greatest weekend ever. Well, that is until I realized that my blissful day was also my sister’s birthday and I forgot. Go me.

So, in honor of my anniversary to the most amazing man on the planet, I want to give away a personalized “Love” bracelet from Things Remembered. It will be customized with your initials alone or along with your spouse’s initials.

To enter the contest you must leave a comment along with your answer to the following question:

Most couples have a song but do you and your spouse have a “movie?” If so what is it and why?

The contest will close on Saturday, October 4 at midnight and I will choose one winner at random.
Oh, don’t forget to submit your entry to the “Falling for Jesus” writing contest going on over at Internet Cafe Devotions!

For us as a couple, it is Mark Wills "Back At One" & for us as a family the song by Brad Paisley "He Didn't Have To Be".

The lyrics for us fit perfectly…

*sigh* ((stars in my eyes))

Perhaps this is surprising, but my husband and I don’t really have a song. As for movies, I don’t think we have a specific one of those either. I remember we went to see a double feature for our first anniversary of Doc Hollywood and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, but beyond that, nothing specific really comes to mind.

My husband and I are both hopeless romantics. I mean, you kind of have to be when one of us is from America and moved to Scotland to be with her one true love, right? So, we love all those old songs and movies from the 40s and 50s. Our movie: probably “White Christmas.” I mean, is that not just the most romantic movie?? We watched it together the December I came to Scotland and we got engaged! :-) Stacey

“Our movie” is not romantic in the least, but it is something we are sure to watch annually, and now the kids have joined in watching it with us. Are you ready? Don’t laugh…”A Christmas Story”. We love this movie. Neither of us is movie buff (we’re picky), so when we find something we really like, it sticks for a long time. We have two songs – “I Swear” (the John Michael Montgomery version) was our first dance song at our wedding- and “Wonderful Tonight” by Eric Clapton. We listened to it a lot when we were dating. :)

Blessings,
Linda

Yes we have a movie. BenHur. It was my husbands favoirite movie and when we were dating I looked everywhere, I mean everwhere to buy it for him for his birthday. Our song ” I am blessed” I used it as the wedding march for our wedding because I am truely blessed.

Our movie… I would say “The Notebook”…mushy and romantic, and soooo us.

Our wedding song was “Long As I Live” by John Michael Montgomery.

Well, if I was picking “our” movie I’d say it’s The Story of Us. But if we both were agreeing on “our” movie together it would be… Star Wars (I know we’re dorks! :)

As far as our song… Faithfully by Journey (we played it at our wedding).

And I LOVE THE BRACELET!!!

Our song is Let’s Stay Together by Al Green. As for a movie….on our first date we watched Runaway Jury, but we both thought it was horrible! We watch movies all the time, but they aren’t mushy and romantic, I have to watch those alone….sigh…

Happy Anniversary! Your blog is one that I have been following the past month because I get the handy dandy emails :-) But I haven’t gotten to tell you Congrats yet, so a little late here. . . Congratulations Amy and Ryan!

Song – for me thinking of him, as cheesy as it is, Jessica Simpson’s “With You” http://www.lyrics007.com/Jessica%20Simpson%20Lyrics/With%20You%20Lyrics.html. She is just me (lol) and that song describes me and how my husband makes me feel :-) He says his song for me is Brad Paisley’s “She’s Everything”

Movie — My husbands hates it lol but our movie is “Serendipity.” It was our first official date, even though we had been going out for over a month. Obviously I got to pick the movie that night! He likes romantic comedies but this wasn’t his favorite, but he does always think of that night and we smile at each other when it comes on. We love movies though, so we have tons of other movies we watch alot.

Our movie is “The Cutting Edge” it’s based on two people who at the beginning didn’t like each other and would tease each other terribly and grew over time to love each other deeply.. I can’t say that in the beginning we didn’t like each other but we did tease each other a lot and over time grew more and more in love with each other.. Our song is “I’ll Try” by Alan Jackson.. We will be celebrating our 11 yr wedding anniversary on November 8th.. Congratulations to you both!!

Glad you were able to get away. WE don’t have a “movie” so to speak, but we will occasionally get out the video of our wedding to watch around our anniversary!

Happy Anniversary!

My husband and I just celebrated our 14th on Tuesday so this is the perfect time to reminisce about “our movie”! Ours is “8 Seconds”. We saw it when we were dating and fell in love with this song by Karla Bonoff. It was played in the scene where Lane and Kelly danced at their wedding. We had the song played at our wedding and still love it. So we got two for one–”our movie” and “our song”!

Standing Right Next to Me

Love is like the wind,
Sometimes it blows your way,
And until now
It missed me somehow.

But when I turned around
I saw you standing there.
The sound of your voice -
I had no choice.

I used to have a wish
One day I’d feel like this.
Now I know love exists
Cause it’s standing right next to me.

Beneath the moon tonight
I see it in your eyes -
No more false starts,
No more broken hearts.

I used to have a wish
One day I’d feel like this.
Now I know love exists
Cause it’s standing right next to me.

Even in the dark,
Even when you’re gone
I feel you in my heart.

I used to have a wish
One day I’d feel like this.
Now I know love exists
Cause it’s standing right next to me

Standing right next to me.

I’m not sure we have one particular song or movie that would be “ours.” Several songs are on the music list. “Pride and Prejudice” would probably land at the top of the movie list.

Congratulations on your anniversary, Amy!

My husband and I had a song when we were dating: “How Deep Is Your Love?” by the BeeGees. (That tells you how old I am!)

I don’t know we have a movie as a couple, but one we both enjoy and that always makes us happy is “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.” :)

The song we played at our wedding was “I Swear.” On our first movie date we saw “Star Trek: Insurrection” so we have a special affection for that one.

I’m so glad you enjoyed your anniversary celebration, belated though it was. It sounded so sweet and romantic! I love that you have a “movie”. Steve and I do have one that’s special to us. Ghost is ours. We saw it at the theater on a date and on the way home he told me he’d like us to see each other exclusively. Neither of us were even dating anyone else, hah hah! He just wanted to be sure, I think. Later that evening, sitting on my couch in the den, he told me he loved me for the first time and we shared a special kiss. So Ghost is our movie. I think the hesitancy of Patrick Swayze’s character actually saying the words, “I love you,” spurred Steve to utter those words, because he wanted me to know verbally, more than just by actions. Unchained Melody is also “our song”. It was in the movie as well.

Have a great Friday and weekend, Amy!

For 12 years of our marriage was fading away.We were out to destory one another because I had no respect for him and he refused to love me…a cat chasing their tail.

I had already been through one divorce and the outcome was my son who was 4,watched his Dad drive away…how selfish I was!

Now I was heading down a very familiar road with our daughter from my second marriage, who was about to experince the same thing. Then God got a hold of us and through christian consulting we have been married for 21 years!

Right after we made a commitment to never speak the word ‘divorce’ we saw the movie ‘Our Story’ with Bruce Willis and Michelle Pfiffer.

After seeing the movie,I turned to my husband and said I never want to going back there again.

Our song:Lady In Red

Happy Anniversay!

Happy Anniversary! My husband and I don’t really have a song. If I had to choose a movie that I think both makes us think of each other it has to be Clash of the Titans. It is an older movie but we discovered on our first date that we had both loved it as kids and we went back to his apartment after dinner to watch it.

Happy Anniversary!!! Our first is coming up on the 20th and I’m so excited.

Our song is Taking you Home by Don Henley- I walked down the aisle to it at our wedding.

Our movie- and I guess this sort of goes to show what homebodies we are… Instead of going to the movies, we stayed in and rented SWAT for our first movie!

Happy anniversary!

Hands down our movie is Return to Me. It’s about a three tissue BOX movie and the soundtrack was so us—full of Dean Martin and big band music. Once a year we try to watch this one together, it’s a rare modern movie where things are chaste, no profanity that I can remember, and great conflict. We need more movies like this!

Our movie is “P.S. I Love You”. We love this movie because of the wonderful conversations that we had the very first time we saw and whenever we watch it. It leaves you with this feeling of telling the one you love everyday how much they mean to you and to support each other in everything you do.

I cannot believe that it has been a year. I started reading your blog just before you got married. My how time flies!

My husband and I do not have a movie, but we have a TV show. It’s “Smallville” because before we were married (6 years ago), he used to come over and watch it with me every week.
