Better Photography Tip #1

For years I have attempted to take great photos. I have a creative gene. I can’t help it. The problem is that I don’t naturally have an eye for great shots so I have had to learn how find them. I’ll share some tips with you that I learn along the way. Be sure to leave me a comment to some photos of yours! The first tip is:

DON’T center the subject.

Well, I always center the subject. But looking at your sample pics, it does look pretty good off center. Thanks!

BTW, I got an idea from another blogger to start a 365 blog, where you post a picture every day for a year and look back on it. It is a fun idea. I started it as well, but not posting a pic daily but weekly. I am going to try out your new tip tommorow!

  2. Yep – rule of thirds provides a much nicer composition – most of the time. Looking forward to your tips, Amy! :D

So do I get royalties for this post?

Great tip. I’ll definitely be using that technique next time. I thought you were supposed to, but your pics look great and I can see the advantage in not centering.

LaVonne I’ve wanted to be able to do a 365 blog but have found that it would be hard to maintain. I like your idea of posting weekly! That I could do!

Dianne Oh my. There is a rule for it? That is awesome! You’ll have to let me know where you get your lessons from too. We can learn from each other!

Josh Royalties? Of course! I pay in good food. Dinner is every day at 5:30 sharp!

Laurie Ann I always wanted to center everything too! Isn’t if funny how we get into those mindsets?

    GraceForHim Thank you so much!
