Dad got fed up with having to pick up dozens of popsicle wrappers every day just in the span of his short trip from the car to the front door so he took action. He handed every one of the little sugar snatchers a plastic bag and marched them up and down the neighborhood so they could pick up trash.
They didn’t like it one bit but you know what? We haven’t found a single wrapper in the yard since then. Miracles do happen, folks.
You’ve gotta love that reality discipline mixed with a dose of service.

Oh now that is a GREAT idea. Which reminds me, certain somebody's need to clean out paper and toys and wrappers and other nasties out of the car tomorrow. And it's not ME.
Sounds like it worked [smile]. Of course, cleaning up after others as a form of punishment isn't perfect, but it's a start. And, often, the only way to get it done.
Keep up the great work! I'll keep this idea filed away for later [smile].

That is definatly creative discipline. :0) Not only did your kids learn not to drop their popsicle wrappers on the ground, but they also learned to serve others. :0)
Oh, thank you! I needed to hear that suggestion. We'll be implementing this real soon. . .like tomorrow!
That is awesome!! Go parents!
Good job Dad!
Good for him! I may try this next time I find popsicle wrappers in our yard!
Yes! I ditto Lisa…Good for him. The great thing is that dad's shirt says "Serve". What better way to serve at that moment than to beautify God's earth?
That is great!! Good for him. Thanks for the practical lesson for discipline. BTW, have I told you how much I LOVE your new blog design? You really did a great job. I love coming to your blog and just looking around!
