How hot is it in Louisiana?

It is hot, hot. Like, my thermostat stays on 68° and the temperature of the house never goes below 79° hot.

But all is well. The boys found a way to cool off. They made a homemade slip-n-slide.

They took our hurricane tarp out of the garage, soaped it up with some homemade baby bath, hooked up the sprinkler and started sliding away…

…for three days in a row. My backyard is a mud hole.

So what does your family do to cool off? Is it hot, hot where you live?

    Awesome job! We used to do that on our hill during rainy days in TX. Dish soap.

    That looks like so much fun! I wish it were hot enough here. We’re sitting in pouring rain at the moment. :(

  3. Hi, Amy! Yes, it’s hot, but I know it’s even hotter down in LA where you are. I am having a hard time with the heat & humidity this year. Must be my age!

    Thanks for coming by to see my new porch. I was whining about not having a screened porch, but really I’m so happy with the way this deck has turned out & you can bet I’ll be out there a lot.

    Looks like lots of fun. Not that hot here. We went to the pool today and were FREEZING. But those kids still want to get in!

  5. Karen Lowe says:

    It looks like they had fun! It’s not hot, hot here thankfully! We’ve been in the low 80s and some 70s. But it looks like we may hit around 90 on Friday. Now that’s hot!

  6. Marsha says:

    That looks like a lot more fun than the $20 extreme slip n slide I bought last week! We are definitely going to try this soon!

  7. Stacey says:

    Does 110degrees count as hot? Then yes, yes it is hot as heck here!!! Girl, our pool is now a lukewarm hottub. Blech.

  8. And that counts as a bath too right? :D

    We’re DEFINITELY doing this!!!! THANKS for sharing!

    That thing is HUGE! The baby bath on it is an inspired touch.

    We used to do the homemade slip and slide thing too, and it was really fun on a hill!! ;o) My kids are 14 & up, so now they pretty much drive to lake and swim but here are some things they used to do:

    * redneck slip&slide ;o)
    * water gun fights (we actually still do this once in awhile, it if fun)
    * water balloon tosses
    * “paint with water” — the kids had pails with water and big paint brushes and they would “paint the house” with the water.
