The name just isn’t sticking… I need input.

“Input. Need more input.”

Does anybody remember what movie that is from? :)

The input I need is in regards to my little string of webisodes. You know the ones where I sport bad hair and cook in my retro kitchen? Those.

And I did get a haircut finally, thankyouverymuch.

I’m just not liking the name I originally picked. I’ve been watching the Next Food Network Star (go Herb! go Aarti!) and I like to play along and well that has posed a problem. You see, when Herb was being drilled about Cuban food and why he was avoiding his very obvious area of expertise I had to pretend that the judges were talking to me and I felt ashamed. Not because I was pretending that they were talking to me but because I too have avoided my obvious niche.

I make Cajun food of today. It has nothing to do with being retro even though my kitchen does. I think I got my intro for my webisodes right. It is the title that is wrong. I think.

So I’m really thinking of changing it. I know which one I like but I’d like your opinion.

Here is what I do:

I take classic Cajun recipes and make them healthier than my mama and her mama made them. I put twists on the old favorites. I also continue with the tradition of my people by taking the cuisine of other countries and giving it some Cajun flair. My tag line will remain, “this ain’t ya mama’s kitchen.”

Here are the names I thought of:

  1. Today’s Cajun Kitchen
  2. Cajun Inspired
  3. Rustic & Robust Cajun Cuisine

Now let’s pretend that you are Bobby Flay. Which do you like best? Do you have a better idea? Let me know! I have a new video and I want to get the name decided on before I publish it.

Sounds delicious! What about – Healthy Cajun Cuisine – for a title? It lets people know that it is a healthier version of Cajun Cuisine.
Can’t wait to try some of your recipes…I am always looking for new ones to try and healthy is even better.

I like Today’s Cajun Kitchen. I’m a 24 Karat Cajun myself and would love to take a look at some of your healthier cajun dishes.

Great idea! I like Cajun Inspired because its not actually cajun its a blend, massala or newvo (is that how you spell it? the french word? mmm). Is there a cajun word meaning a “mixture.”

I like “Today’s Cajun Kitchen”. Nowadays, you don’t have to say “healthy” in the title. Sometimes you’ll do healthy & sometimes you’ll go full out with sugar & white flour!

I like 1 or 2 best. Or you can do something that incorporates a fun Cajun term/word?

Hey sis, long time no visit. Still think about ya and pray for you though! ♥

Thought I’d drop by while I had a moment for a quick visit.

LOVE what you’ve done with you blog…as usual. God has given you so much talent sister.

One of my favorite things about you Amy is your passion & love for Christ and His people. You’re always sure to give God the glory for all good things, share His blessings and inspirations with others, while maintaining the uniqueness of who He made you to be…Cajun and all. ;-)

Okay, so here’s my two sense or cents:-) on your question:

God Inspired, Cajun Infused!

Love ya girl!

My favorite of your three is “Today’s Cajun Kitchen”, but I also really like Debbie’s suggestion of “Amy’s Cajun Kitchen” (reminds me of when my daughter & I were watching your video & she kept saying back to Amy Bay-leaf’s Cajun Chicken). I also really like the other Debbie’s suggestion of “Modern Cajun Mama”. Actually, I wold combine them somehow…like “The Modern Cajun Mama’s Kitchen”. Maybe that’s too wordy, but something like that.

I just don’t know if I’ll be any help. I’m thinking in my head Not Your Mama’s Cajun Cuisine. Ain’t would totally apply but I’m not sure it would roll off the tongue. I like Mama in there somewhere.

I like Today’s Cajun Kitchen – simple, flows off the tongue, and tells you exactly what it is.

ok, here is my humble opinion. Are you sure you want to put Cajun in your title? maybe one day you decide to make something other than Cajun then what.

How about Amy’s Bliss?? you can still use Today’s Healthy cooking and this ain’t your Momma’s cooking on your tag line when you cook Cajun.

another humble input… I thought you were a “bit” artificial and forceful on your video. It could be nerves. I noticed that on my first videos my voice was “funny”.

Then again, I don’t know you personally. :)

First, “Input, need input” is totally from “Short Circuit” when the robot-thingy called Number 5 says he needs input [to get more information into his 'brain'].

Second, I prefer “Today’s Cajun Kitchen”. But they all sound nifty. I like it because I’m trying to get inside Flay’s head, what you’re going for here, and that it seems to fit your personality [from what I've seen].
