A little hospitality goes a long way…

I’ve had the pleasure of listening to Sandy Coughlin at one of our A Woman Inspired Conferences (Creative & Efficient Life) and I was intrigued immediately. I’m not one for entertaining. My sister has that covered. Every year, every holiday, she hosts the event. Still, I have always wanted to try. For someone like me who just doesn’t know where to begin this book is a good place to start. You see I’m a perfectionist. I think everything has to be just right, the food must be gourmet and all the decor has to match. I certainly don’t want anyone coming into my retro, deconstructed kitchen either although it would likely make for some good conversation. Well, Sandy addresses all of that and more in her new book that is fitly titled after her blog: Reluctant Entertainer.

I don’t know what I like more: the photos or the heart to heart talk she gives through the writing on these pages. It seems entertaining is not exactly what I perceived it to be. It isn’t about me. It is about my guests. That is the biggest lesson I learned. Her practical approach to cooking, serving, and decor is also new to me. I have taken away so much from this little gem. This is one book I have highlighted, dog-eared, bookmarked, and written in. I’ll be keeping it for quite a while. That means no one is borrowing it just yet. :)

I have one copy to give away. The retail value of this book is $16.50. The winner must provide a snail mail address so that the book can be shipped to them by the publisher. US only please.

I can sooo relate to this title. I’m not a good cook & just had 6 grown ups over for lunch after my daughter’s baptism! Thank you Lord for a hubby that knows how to grill burgers & chicken.

It would be fun to win this book as I love to entertain, but often feel inadequate at it.

Good morning. This book sounds very interesting. The art of “Hospitality” is one that has been forgotten in many homes and should be passed on to our children so that it continues! I would love to read this book.

  15. Girl, count me in, I am absolutely the reluctant entertainer, it’s just not natural to me. I love people and love having time with them but don’t always know how to do it well. Thanks for the chance for a copy! ~ Melissa <3

  16. I have learned so much about hospitality from Sandy, & would love to have her book!

What a good take away…….”it’s not about me, but my guests!” I also struggle with being a perfectionist and that stops me from having people in our home as I would like. This sounds like a good book for me! Thanks!
