I really enjoy attending blog conferences. I especially enjoy it because I get to meet the people I’ve gotten to know online. I actually get to give real hugs instead of cyber ones (((hugs))). One thing that I wanted to do for some upcoming conferences that I’ll be attending (Relevant and Blissdom) is have something that represents my blog. I considered a piece of jewelry, a t-shirt, a laptop vinyl sign, and other things. None of them seemed to work out. I just kept thinking to myself that I wanted to have something that was similar to my blog’s graphic button so I tried to think of ways to make a blog button tangible.
Then I guess I got a bit nostalgic. I remembered a piece of my favorite childhood gear. The one thing that really spoke volumes about who a person was: button pins.
Yeppers, I’m a product of the 80s and I’m proud of it. I loved these buttons more than jelly shoes, friendship bracelets, and twist-a-beads. And…I think they are an awesome way to share who I am and what the name of my blog is. So I got online and ordered some. I thought of many ways I could display them too.
On my scarves, rosette necklace, and my t-shirt necklace,
On my purse,
and on my camera strap.
I love it! I’m so excited to be able to sport it too. How do you represent your blog at conferences? Will you be attending any in the next few months? I’m anxious to hear all about it!

Now that’s a neat idea!! Not sure I have time to get those ordered, but I love the idea! {Maybe next year!}
Love the button idea… HOW do you make one?
Excellent idea–love it! No conferences for me this year, but why just advertise at conferences? My 13 yr old dau loves buttons, definitely throw back time. I miss my jelly shoes…
Great idea, Kathy! So true… so true!
Amy – it’s AWESOME! I LOVE your button! I wish I still had my buttons AND my denim jacket to pin them on. lol! I hope to meet you some day soon!!!
oooohhh… the denim jacket. I almost forgot!!
Oh yes, I stole my denim jacket from my brother who had just joined the Navy.
i think I still have some of my pins somewhere stashed in a tin. don’t forget that HardRock Cafe guitar pin we had to have too.
LOL and I thought * I * was ahead of the game… I had some made up last year with Sweet Jeanette.com and even had some made for my other blog RealWomenEat.com. Sadly, though, I’ve not worn them because I have yet to attend a blogging conference! One day… one day!
Girl, we have got to get you to a conference! I would love to meet you.
Oh and I do have a custom piece of jewelry that says “Trailing After God”
Great idea! Not to mention you now have a stylish name tag
I will try to remember this idea for when I finally get to go to a conference. Of course, if I wander around the event with a bible over my face, you think folks would recognize me
Ha! That is to too funny!
Very Cool! I still have my collection on buttons from the ’80′s.
You do?!! I wish I still had mine!
Seriously!!! You are too stinkin’ cute! I love it! Actually…buttons are back! All the girls in my youth group at church have buttons and pins all over their bags…it is seriously throw back time girlie! Way to stay in the trend…teehee!
What? And I thought I was starting the trend. I guess that shows how old I really am!
Rebecca and I are praying about Relevant next year. Next year is already starting to filling up and we’re not even there yet. This would be our very first blog conference.
I love this idea of using the 80′s button to show your stuff! I had so many of these when I was teenager as well. Love you, Amy.
Oh I do hope you (and I) get to go. That would be so great to finally meet you!
Hello, Amy! I’ll be first to comment.
So excited to get the chance to finally meet you in person at Relevant! And although I am personally *not* a button fan (they always catch on my other … stuff) I do think yours is DARLING! Gret job!
Misty, I am excited to meet you too. Relevant can’t get here fast enough. I am totally looking forward to it!
