Whether you choose to homeschool or send your kids to private school, charter school, gifted school or public school we all have one common thread: we have to get our kids successfully through the multiplication memorization period.
I know that kids would usually much rather do anything than memorize their facts. Over the years I’ve tried many things but I’ll share with you what has worked best.
Suggestions for helping your children memorize multiplication facts:
- Drill them in the car. Make a game of it. We assign points to each child for each fact that they get right. The winner gets to ride shotgun on the next trip.
- Use flash cards.
- Watch multiplication vides. Search YouTube for “school house rock multiplication”. There are many videos for multiplication. You can also find songs that help to commit the facts to memory.
- Multiplication Drill Quizzes (0-12)
