Every Wednesday I will be posting a photo behind the photo. I’ll also let you know the tips I learned and applied to that particular photo shoot. Here is an example.
This is the photo from my blog post here: Does Your Home Tell A Story? I was wanting to capture the detail and texture of the burnt orange bowl. The problem was that every time I took the photo it focused on the cream color bowl in the front.
After several failed attempts I remembered something that Tracy taught me in my Mommytography class. She taught us to focus on the object we wanted by tapping the button and letting go before it snapped the picture. Once it focused on that item then we could arrange the photo in the view finder however we wanted. So I tried that. It worked!
Here are some of my previous attempts so you can see the difference.
So what kind of shots have you taken lately? Write a post showing us a photo you took and posted on your blog. Then let us know how you took that photo: what techniques, tricks, angles, advice did you use to achieve it?
If you want to join along with me I have a link up ready for you to to link to. This should be lots of fun! We will do this every Wednesday so mark your calendars and be sure to follow the feed so you can share and learn along with us!

Nice! and thanks. I love the texture of the bowls.
The technique is called focus lock- controlling your focus.

Thank you for this tip, Amy. I have been trying to figure out “how” to get my Nikon to take picture that focus on one element in the shot. Heading out to try this out. Praying I do it right!! Yay!
You are so creative! I need to get myself a better camera, cell phones don’t count, so I can take more of my own pics. Thanks so much I am loving this series.
Great idea. I will try to do it. Thank you for the tips, Amy
